Liebster Award Nomination

The sweet Leanne of Oh My Daze has nominated me for the Liebster Award, and I couldn't be more grateful. I began blogging in January but gave it up for awhile and have recently begun to fall in love with it again. I'm so grateful for all of the wonderful women I've met, the confidence I've gained, and all of the fabulous blogs I've discovered. Blogging has been such a blessing in my life, thank you all for the support!

Without further adieu, my answers to Leanne's questions:

1. What's in your make-up bag?

My must haves for everyday are Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer, Maybelline Great Lash mascara, Burt's Bees Chapstick, and Jane Iredale's pressed powder.

A few other favorites are MAC's brule shadow, MAC's Politely Pink lipstick, NARS blush duo, and MAC's Golden bronzer.

2. Spender or saver?

Both. I spend on staples that won't go out of style and save on trendier items. I also try to find a coupon or a "pre-loved" version of almost every higher end item I purchase.

3. Currently reading?

This is so bad... I don't read. I mean, it just has never really appealed to me. Maybe if I found the right book that would keep my attention I would, but for now Glamour is the extent of my reading (oh and school textbooks, boo).

4. If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

I love writing fiction, I really don't do it anymore but when I was younger I used to write little stories. It's fun to be able to write about experiences that you have never really had but could only dream about. I'm a big daydreamer, so I'd say it'd be about some kind of amazing adventure that takes the readers' minds to a happy place.

5. Which 3 words best describe your blog?

Happy, inspiring, self-advocating. These are words that describe A Beautiful Heart from my perspective. It inspires me to be happy everyday, inspires me to create new looks that I would have not otherwise thought of, and inspires me to be better for my readers. I want my blog to be a place that allows my readers to realize that they should be their greatest advocates, and that it's beautiful to just be yourself.

6. What made you decide to start blogging?

Aside from others urging me to share my style with the world, I also wanted a place that I could call my own. A space to express my creativity and truly be myself.

7. What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you?

Oh gosh, this is hard. I think it was probably me and Christian's first kiss. We were 17, sitting in his dad's movie room, it was pitch black, and I was half asleep. I could hear him moving toward me but figured he was just putting his arm around me. And bam. A peck on the lips. Uh, I was so not ready for that. I was just sitting there, probably with my eyes clothes. SO AWKWARD. What do you say to a guy you've only known a few weeks? "I promise I'm a better kisser than that!", no. Hahahaha. We still talk about that night and I am so embarrassed that I made it that weird, I should've been paying attention... but I wasn't. And neither of us knew what to say. Thank goodness he gave me another chance.

8. And the best?

I've had such a blessed life, it's hard to choose just one thing. I'd say some of the best things that have happened to me have been getting to go away to college, getting baptized, having Christian come into my life, and have a family who loves and supports me no matter what.

9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you pick?

The beach. I really don't care where, just a place with clear water, white sand, and warm sun. I could lie on the beach all day. Let's go with Fiji :)

10. What's for dinner tonight?

I'm living with my parents for the summer so momma's cooking, yay! Pasta, garlic bread, and salad, yum.

11. What's your favorite aspect of blogging?

There are so many things I love about blogging but my favorite part has been meeting such wonderful people and connecting with my readers. If someone saw me while I was reading through comments, they'd think I was so strange. I sit there and smile as I respond, I'm just so touched by how sweet people truly are.

Random facts about myself:

I am an organizing freak when it comes to my closet; everything is color coordinated. But my car on the other hand, is filled with water bottles, last week's breakfast, and receipts... oops.
My papa was a dairy farmer, my dad did it for awhile while I was a baby as well. I loved visiting the farm and am a huge proponent of agriculture.
I eat a ridiculous amount of fruit, at least 3-5 times a day. I love it so much, it's like having dessert all the time! :)
I was born and raised in Arizona, I'm a third generation native and have so much love for this beautiful state.
My guilty pleasure is watching Dr. Phil. Being a psychology major and someone who has been around a lot of mental illness, it's actually a show that really inspires me. Everyone thinks it's so silly and dramatic but these people have real problems and I love seeing them change.
I hate school, I know that's so bad since it's such a blessing but it's just not my thing. I'm almost done though, only one more semester (then hello real world!).
I love kids and can't wait to have my own. Being a mother is such a beautiful thing.
I always have to have my nails painted. I never used to be like this, but now it's a pet peeve that I just can't break.
I'm a planner. I plan out literally every aspect of my life. Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it's not; because I am devastated when those plans are broken. If anyone has tips on how to be more flexible, send em my way!
When I love someone or something, I pour my whole heart into it.
I could spend days in Target and never get tired of it. Clothes, shoes, makeup, food, and home decor all in one affordable place... what could be better?!
